Kenith,

> Netscape gave away first and took away Microsoft's retail sale in browser. >

MS IE came after Netscape. IE came after NS had a majority of the market share. NS gave away the product to educational institutes and non-commercial users, because the commercial users were willing to subsidize it for the other users - mainly to nurture the usage and proliferation of Internet. I don't think MS would have done that if it had come with the product first and garnered the market share as NS did.

< Had Bill made the first move, I would have sympathize Netscape.>

Bill gave away IE even to the commercial users wiping out the browser revenues for Netscape. They even gave away the Internet server OS for free to hurt Netscape. After their market share went up, I think they started collecting licensing fees on that (I could be wrong here).

< I have no position in MSFT. I am thinking of picking it up for my kids' college account. >

IMHO, it would be a great long term investment.

Dear Ken:

Bill Gates did not have a browser before Netscape had already been out for a while. Learn history of the internet before making such patently false claims.

What are you talking about? Netscape came before IE, way before!

By leveraging the OS, Microsoft was able to destroy Netscape. That was illegal and hurt consumers, the only one who benefited was MSFT share holders. I am so glad that DOJ is doing its job for once!
