Lucent has competitive advantage in "waveguide array technology".

As more and more system vendors look to put 32, 96 and even 300 wavelengths in one device, the newer waveguide array technology, which handles more wavelengths per module, is bcoming the technology of choice. Currently, neither JDSU nor E-TEK have products in this emerging area; Lucent is the dominant player.

Doug, I happen to believe that LU management is conservative and would not have set themselves up for a second wave of criticism this year. In other words, I expect this analyst to be proven wrong, like most analysts that have followed most companies over the last several months...

Regarding the wireless product, Cabletron of all companies recently outpaced LU, CSCO, COMS and anyone else in a side by side wireless demo to recieve a product award. (2 months ago?)...

Have a nice weekend. tp
