The average long I know (i.e. not 50% on margin in CMRC or something like that) has lost his 2000 profits and maybe a little bit of the outsized returns from 1999. I don't know anyone who has lost any more than that. The Naz is still up a lot from last fall.

The firms that may crash may be the "genius" hedge funds that seem to crash and burn so often. It's funny that ordinary amateurs can beat the averages while some hotshot hedge guys seem to get creamed.

Looks like a Darwinian process to me. The careful and the strong will survive. Probably healthy for the market in the long run.
