In 2001 as Dresden + some new Intel fabs ramp it might be interesting if capacity does increase much more rapidly than demand. With 15-20% growth it would seem these AMD&INTC should be merely keeping up...

ptanner, I totally agree with this statement. It would not be in either companies interest to drive prices down with the enormous demand (especially overseas) for microprocessors. Both companies could enjoy record profits with the current situation in place. The only caveat is that with the Fed continuing to tighten monetary policy, how much impact will that have in slowing the economy and thus demand?
