The article in the Economist that you posted stated:

".....This defiance does not show Mr Castro, and Cuba, that America is a morally superior place. On the contrary, it displays a country where even an administration with law on its side may be bullied out of doing the right thing because it is election year...."

True....

However, I believe that the majority of the people here in the US do not think or act that way, only the radical-fundamentalist, who happen to be the promoters of this idiotic saga. (A sorry sequel to the Monica Operetta).

When will we, the people, learn that in order to have a reasonable government, we need to strip the power away from these psychotic zealots by creating an environment in which REASONABLE individuals could be placed in power, instead of the circus like environment that the election process is ?? (this includes any other process in which public participation is needed, in order to be "listened to")

I guess never is the answer, since more people would need to be more educated and learn about issues instead of merely listen to parrots as messengers of the absurd that the current systems favors, with the blessing of the media as merchants and brokers of dis-information treating us all like slow learners.
