I just tried "Beam-it". MP3.Com is nothing more than a bunch of Thieving Corporate Thugs.

Beam-it is an out-and -out fraud and rips off and defames artists.. The puported use of Beam-it is to "copy" your CD onto their site. This is LIE #1.

It took all of 10 seconds to "copy" my CD onto MP3.com's database. This is impossible even with a T1 line (loading a CD could take 65MB/sec), let alone with my 56k modem.

What MP3.com is actually doing is copying Copyrighted CD's into their database themselves so they can offer it to their customers . This is a CLEAR violation of Copyright Laws.

All I had to do to set up the account was provide a username (anonymous Yahoo email account) and password. Viola. No address. No credit card #. No nothing. Now I can give the password away to all my friends (and all of their freinds, ...etc.) and we can start our own access to any CD MP3.Com has in their database.

LIE #2 - Beam-it does not harm artists.

In order to use "Beam-it" you must access MP3.Com's site and by doing so give them multiple "hits" on their web pages. This means $$$ to MP3.Com for everty page hit. Artists and record companies have no control over whose ad banner is being associated with their music. Nor do they see any $$$ money from these ad banners. The potential for for a company like Acme Baby Seal Fur Inc.'s ad banner appearing in association with an artist's music could be catastrophic for the artist.

LIE #3- MP3.Com Beam-it is part of a new "Revolution"

No, it isn't . It's merely the latest attempt to circumvent Copyright Law, and as a result of the court's decision they are being tossed into the Garbage Dump of Wall Street History. The damages awarded, if held to the letter of the Law, will easily Bankrupt this company.

MPPP will be trading below $1 before you can sneeze. The Corporate Thugs of MP3.Com will not get away with this.
