I should have stated in my post that there are alternative, valid, arguments for DIM calls. You have described one. I was referring to investing the same quantity, but buying DIM contracts instead of common. That, to me, is the equivalent of margin. You are right that it does not have the margin call downside, but it would take the strongest stomachs to not close out those calls at the bottom.

I agree, bottom line is, be able to live with whatever strategy you choose. Being close to (early) retirement, I can not afford to take a lot of chances.
