jbe,

to be honest, i don't really pay very much attention to the numbers. I just see if the numbers are increasing from quarter to quarter or year to year; which makes me somewhat (stupid?) as far as due diligence is concerned.

so how do i decide what companies to buy? I try to imagine what the company does and how it relates to the real world (what it's potentials are and how likely the management is able to achieve them). For example, my favorite is QCOM. Their wireless system should take over the world because they have the best technology and a great management team. In short, i look at the macros instead of the micros.

problem is, i really have no idea if or when it's overvalued. So, at some point when i decide the company is no longer going to take over the world or that saturation has occurred, then i'll bail. Needless to say, timing is not my forte. But i do seem to be doing okay nonetheless.

so i'm afraid i don't have much to offer as far as your query on valuations is concerned.

as far as what an eep opp is... Well, it's actually kinda silly. One of my favorite cartoons is the Jetsons. There was an episode where Judy enters a song writing contest and the winner would get to meet the teenage heartthrob, Jet Screamer. She gave her entry to her father, George, to mail in for her. Well...being the protective father that he is, George instead substitutes his son's secret agent code in the hopes of sabotaging any chance his daughter would have of winning. (Can't have her cavorting with swinging musicians, after all.) Needless to say, Judy won! And the name of the song was, "Eep Opp Ork Ah Ah Means I Love You!"

sorry for the long post, but you asked.

: )

ps. you didn't actually give the impression of looking for advice. I was just being nosey and happened to feel like typing and posting that day. I usually just lurk.

Good luck in your trades!
