I'm NOT your dude.

But you can call me Jane.

This is the great debate. In or out before FOMC. What I will probably do is keep my IRA shares intact and cash in my other shares next week if things go according to schedule.

Jane

Dear Gladman: I know you are being swayed by the current Popular notion that it will be a 1/2 pt. increase. BUT, consider this, AG has been a proponent of gradulism throughout this entire process. He, and any other economist would tell you it takes many months for the cumulative effect to take hold from raising rates. I dont see him changing his philosophy, so I am going to say 1/4 pt. just as before. Lets see who is correct, just for the fun of it. JDN

I agree that if there is a 1/2 point rise you should be out of the market. However, if it is 1/4 point, as expected by most, you will be sitting on the sidelines as the market roars past you. The only way you can make absolutely sure you make no money is to stay out of the market.

Look at it this way:
The fed rate hike is going to be directly dependent on the reports coming out in May. Also, all indicators are looking back a month. That's why this month's indicators looked positive.

The reports in May are going to be looking back at April. April was a disaster. I know people that sell high ticket items (expensive clothing). When the market collapsed nobody came in to buy.
