As you say-- another interesting scenario. Both of these put us, as Americans, to the test, don't they? WIll we accept the ruling of the court? Will the parties involved?

I'm sitting here feeling a little depressed. IS there a winning solution?
Elian gets his father, but he also is sent back to a life in Cuba that we all agree is not one we (good Americans that we are) would choose.
He gets placed with his dysfunctional family in Miami, without his father, who allow him to be used as a symbol for the Cuban exiles and a meal ticket for all the fameseekers around him.
He gets placed in a foster family of strangers (not likely).
HAve I missed anything?
