A fathers doesn't have the right to abuse his son. The implication of Elian's return to cuba is that his being surrendered to castro isn't abuse. The implication of his being returmned over to castro's re-ed camp isn't abuse. THEY ARE ABUSIVE BY DESIGN Juan miguel at least has the excuse of fear-you don't. Shame on you.

"Individual rights take precedence over parental rights; that is why we take children away from child-beaters," said Locke. "Stripping a child of all rights for the rest of his life is much worse. The moral principle on which America was founded is that individual rights are sacred and inalienable. If we do not uphold this principle, we become just another second-rate nation -- soon to disappear in the dustbin of history. Sending Elian back to Cuba means betraying the soul of our nation." Amazing... the number of posts and the amount of irrelevant stuff to what the simple concept of returning a son to his father this comedia has turned into. 4. End the embargo. It doesn't work. In fact it is counter-productive to your end, after fourty years and nine of your presidents Castro still rules the island. Gee, maybe isolation wasn't such a good idea ... try engagement. Not of Castro, but of cubanos - individual cubanos ... convince enough of them and you won't need to worry about Castro any more. Why do we continue to listen to the radicals!!?? In order to accomplish your suggestions we need different people as leaders, unless such is accomplished we are just going in circles.
