tectonicbull - why do you think any of this is revolutionary, given that almost everyone in the business is working on technology, business and marketing plans, and alliances to lock in some of the areas you discuss? I don't see that SUNW even has an edge, let alone "revolutionary" stuff.

Hate to break it to you but the "entire field of ASP's" is already launched. SUNW has a presence, but so does MSFT, IBM, Linux... since the ASP market is driven by applications, not infrastructure technology, it will follow the market share of the app providers.

ASPs will certainly need require greater centralization and power of their servers. So far SUNW has gotten slightly more of this market than their market in general, but less than their share of dot.com back end servers.

JINI may have some impact in the far distant future, but is unlikely to have much effect near term. As far as "home networking", CPQ has been shipping "TUT" phoneline home networks for about 2 years, on every consumer machine they sell, and added wireless this year. HP followed suit. Between them, they have almost 80% of the consumer market. Why would SUNW have ANY legs in the HOME market? They sell about zero units to consumers.

I think you need to do a little reality check here.
