Good (accurate) comments on the evolution of the GUI.

I also recommend a book called "Big Blue: The Making and Breaking of IBM" for some good background on Microsoft's role in the development of Operating Systems for Personal Computing DOS, Windows, and OS2) and DOS, Windows, and OS2.

[just did an Amazon search on this title to no avail so maybe I have the title slightly skewed].

OT "Triumph of the Nerds" from PBS is a classic chronicle as well. The Xerox PARC developers quite understandably refused to give Jobs the demo, until ordered to do so by the Xerox suits. It was like stealing candy from a baby with the dim-witted mother's approval <g>.
