40 (or whatever) billion dollars in cash does not a sideshow make, Charles. As long as M$ has a free hand to spread those monopoly bucks around outside of direct payment to legal counsel, there's an inescapable 'relevance' to M$. Their business model certainly has outlived it's relevance. If M$ weren't a monopoly (Dead Dale), it's cash line would reflect that. That cash line is a problem. --- MORE LAWYERS!! :) -JCJ

I agree unless MSFT has some highly innovative projects up their sleeves. They are trying hard to retain software engineers with stock options.

Having money like $21Bln isn't everything since their stock price reflects this war chest.

I think they are working on a networking solution, and rentable software. I believe they are going to be into voice recognition in a big way.

Bottom line, unless there is something very secret, they are "out of it" compared with ORCL and SUNW.
