Yes the NYA did close at a higher high than the previous week. however, I see nothing in this move to indicate that it is a resumption of a trend. I think you have to look at all the evidence in the market before having an opinion. However, the weight of the current evidence suggests to me a bifurcated market where financial stocks are clearly in a down trend, and cumulative data still suggests a weak market. An opinion: the tech stocks have a week or two at the most before we see some serious down side. Short interest figures and the put-call ratio both suggest complacency.

Market volatility seems to be the order of the day. There is nothing wrong in my view with having some cash. I happen to like a few stocks right now both long and short and am playing the market succesfully in both directions.
