AMD and the BU$$

Could some AMD supporter please explain this?

If AMD is not going to use RAMBUS technology in their LTD (EV7) bus, could you explain the technology that they are going to use? From the below link, it sure looks like the LTD bus is using many of the same features that RAMBUS technology provides:

amd.com

for example:

Up to 1.6 Gbits/s per pin (where have I heard this spec. before?)

Differential Signaling with source synchronous clock forwarding

16/16-bit link provides 6.4 GB/sec each way

Here are the numbers as I see them from Egghead.com for the Dell Dimension:

128MB 800MHz RDRAM: $624.99
egghead.com

256MB 800MHz RDRAM: $1,178.99
egghead.com

128MB SDRAM: $185.99
egghead.com

But the prices are significantly different if you look at Dell's website and upgrade/downgrade for each type of memory.

Hi mishedlo; Re the $424.99 128MB SDRAM... That was a very obsolete IBM part. I could only find one bad search hit to it on the IBM website. My guess is that is was a registered DIMM. Try comparing prices with something a little more current.
