Thank you for the analysis Mr. GJ. I agree that Mr. Greenspan does not want to push the economy into a recession. Typically, recessions occur both manufacturers and retailers have large inventories. The vicious cycle of layoffs, less consumer purchasing, and more layoffs continues until the inventories are reduced. Then the economy recovers.

With all of the computerized inventory controls we have these days, recessions may well become less common. (assuming no liquidity crunches).

Take care

MGJ: Re: "The only negative I can see at the moment is the tightening being done by the Federal Reserve. I disagree that Greenspan may prefer a recession as Bob has stated."

I think his point was that if it comes to a choice between "strong" inflation and a recession, Greenspan would choose the latter.

For you vodaphone & microsoft holders. FWIW, there is a bell curve on the Dorsey Wright site that displays the top 100 stocks held by mutual funds that is displayed from oversold to overbought conditions. Right now vod & msft are ranked #1 & #2 out of 100 as being the most oversold. This is good news because it is not unusual for a stock to go coast to coast (very oversold to very overbought). PFE was the most oversold stock a few months ago and now its the most overbought after a 40% move up.

patience patience !!
