I've taken plenty of pain pills and tranquilizers after hospitalizations, and cannot remember any of them causing me to bring into a broad grin or laugh; I was certainly happy the pain was gone. Mostly, however, I was too tired from them to do anything. I recall sleeping most of the day on these pills.

I doubt Elian had to be drugged; he was happy to be with his dad.
