According to this interesting CTech Taiwan report , the three major Taiwanese chipset makers VIA, ALI and SiS are ready to flood the market with DDR chipsets in the second half of 2000: total DDR chipset shipment in Q4 2000 is expected to be around 5-7 million sets. ALI will announce its DDR chipset for Athlon in June and will mass produce that in Q4 2000. VIA will take the wrap off its PX-266 chipset, the sucessor to APP-133A with DDR PC-2100 support, around May or June. VIA's DDR chipset for Athlon, the KX-266 will also debut around that same time frame. SiS will likely incorporate DDR support into its upcoming SiS640 (Intel platform) and SiS730 (Athlon platform) chipsets as well, abondoning the expensive Rambust DRDRAM. Intel and AMD are also expected to roll out their own DDR chipsets (AMD-760 for AMD)by Q3 2000.
