LindyBill: Perhaps as with FUD, different people have different reactions in their mind when a phrase such as "sure thing" is used. Mine is a salesman from who I would not buy - anything - ever. Others may consider "sure thing" to be simply that over time it has a high chance of success.

To me "sure thing" means certainty. Those are death, taxes, and now (very sadly) government regulation.
