The only source I could find quoted negatively regarding Juan's parenting was a young cousin. Everyone else (including Elizabet's family) seemed to agree he was a model father. This includes people living here- and not under duress- who are speaking about Juan. So adding it up- one would tend to think the cousin has a grudge (which in fact was intimated by another article). So at the very least I'd give him the benefit of the doubt that at least he was adequate.
