Gary, Thank you for pointing that out. It should be made clear that the term was not being used in its strict sense. Reminds me of the CSCO regular that berated a poster for using the law of diminishing returns and the law of large numbers interchangeably (which is frequently done in the financial press).

But, you are correct that market risk is not the same thing as beta or unsystematic risk. It doesn't matter as long as the point is communicated.

However, Buffett stated over the weekend, you can expect the returns from equities to be less than spectacular over the next 10-15 years. If you take this view, there is actually quite a bit of market risk. But, maybe he just has sour grapes from missing out on CSCO's nearly risk free returns.
