HJ,

The JD's concern is that MSFT uses its Windows OS monopoly to unfairly leverage its market power into other markets, such as applications, browsers, wireless, pdas, and on and on.

The fact that MSFT may not yet be as dominant in some of these other markets does not allay their concern.

Others might figure that out...and go short May 11 or sooner...thereby avoiding PPI numbers on May 12 and CPI and Fed May 16.

Who wants to be in the NAS when we get more bad news on inflation?

On Microsoft, don't you think that Windows looks like a mature technology now? Ten years ago it was obvious that it could be greatly improved, but that doesn't seem so today. Linux will keep on getting better and the price is attractive <g>. If there are no longer significant improvements to be made to Windows then eventually Linux will catch up.

Agreed that a medium term MSFT recovery is a good bet, but I think the longer term is more uncertain.
