Not my tocayo! - he uses a capital M ... i am the Sup-tomandante, from the brand of beer Superior and the verb tomar, 'to drink' ... there are other distinctions as well ... it is simply not true that once you seen one mouthy little chiapaneco you seen 'em all ;-)

But yes ... an articulate user of the net, is he not - ezln.org

Yes, the net was important to that conflict in '94 ... it would be much more so now, as many more are online, especially in M‚xico .... BUT one of the effects of zapatista use of the net has been that internet access to chiapanecos is not exactly encouraged by the government or by the Telmex monopoly, to say the least ... if you know what i mean.

But slowly, slowly, the times they are a'changin - proceso.com.mx
... within a year i may be posting here from Chiapas ... we're trying now to get a net connection for the local school.

Castro could leave as legacy freedom of expression of cubanos to the point that they could have unsupervised use of the net ... but i wouldn't hold my breath on that ... i think he's trapped in the inertia of long-past glories that were largely self-deluding anyway ... but he's 73, and gone soon, imho. The net will win in the end. Then the big battle begins - to resist Bill Gates ... lol
