I would go for that plan only if it guaranteed an endless supply of Cohibas for us.

Hear, hear - support for the continuation of the embargo/isolation policy stems from the insecurities of the ranters, in which they ascribe to Castro a potency of which he is not worthy .... and an image of potency which is counter-productive to gift him. Clearly he has failed in his experiment, just as the isolation experiment has failed in halting his experiment. Time to try something new, like individual yanquis talking to and listening to individual cubanos, one on one, in volume.

Change is inevitable, and imho it will come soon - One of the major reasons for dropping the isolation policy and engaging Cuba on whatever reasonable terms possible is to be on the ground when change comes, to have some voice in the direction, some influence ... the more peaceful the transition the better for everbody.

The Berlin Wall fell in one night and the worst casualties came from chunks of concrete meeting toes ... and they had the best of anaesthetics - the joy of release.

I say end the embargo and prove once and for all that the Cubans are destitute not because USA is mean to them, but because destitution is the inevitable consequence of communism and rule by Fidel.

Yes, I knew that, (as many millions already do). That was not my point.

My point is: It is time to move on with the cold war debate, there is much to gain from the future. One in which more individuals have more power and can actually communicate across borders without the need of some parrot attempting to drill unwanted ideologies that were more appropriate in other times, [if at all]. --And that assumes that the individual can not think by himself or herself.

So.. let's get rid of the damned radicals !! [from both sides]
