No ramifications at all that I can see. it's not as if they were gathering evidence- so you would have some sort of "fruit of the poisonous tree" issue. They were retrieving an illegal alien- something the INS has every right to do.

It's a completely separate issue. But, IMO, they haven't a legal leg to stand on trying to do anything about how Reno solved this. Everything was completely legal. One could argue that the laws should be changed- and this sort of power to go after illegal aliens is wrong- but everyone should realize what this will mean to the effectiveness of the INS vis a vis illegal aliens. It's already a losing battle- even with their rather unusual powers. I'd guess that if this case liberalized policy in favor of illegals it wouldn't take too long before people began to scream bloody murder about the effect of those new policies. Either way, it is bound to be a fun freak show.
