they predicted that the larger, established carriers (WCOM) would continue to spend on SONET gear increasingly until 2005 while the next gen networks (QWST) would see a dramatic decrease in this spending after 2003.

tp, That is consistent with the article in lightreading. Although George Gilder has been predicting the rapid demise of SONET, I think SONET sales next year will exceed this year. Did you happen to see the presss release from Metromedia Fiber today that they were supplying a metro DWDM
network to Fredie Mac using Nortel's metro DWDM?
