It sounded like a disaster to me, too, but I was trying to figure out if mtnlady was convinced that this partnership was happening (which is what her "SAP is dead meat" conclusion seemed to require). Such a conviction seemed at odds with calling the partnership "rumored".

I think that SAP is in terrible shape in lots of ways. If they have any current successes, they need to hire a new PR firm, too, since all I ever read are stories of them screwing up yet another company. (If they don't have any current successes, they still need to hire a new PR firm, but they have to get one that is willing to lie more.)

SAP partnering with Clarify makes no sense to me unless the parent company can bring something to the table I'm not aware of. Aside from that possibility, if SAP partners with Clarify it says a lot more about SAP's management than Clarify or Siebel. SAP just standardized their MySap.com on Siebel and now they're going to switch to Clarify? It reminds me of when Baan bought Aurum but later decided to use someone else's front office software internally (can't remember who.) Look at the trouble Baan is having.
