Damodar (Dan) Reddy, chief executive officer (CEO) of Alliance Semiconductor Corporation (NASDAQ:ALSC), today joined the board of directors of Electronic Design Automation (EDA) supplier Tharas Systems Inc. Both companies are headquartered in Santa Clara, Calif. Other board members include Prabhu Goel, founder of Gateway Design Automation, Raj Parekh of Redwood Ventures, and Tharas Systems' CEO Steve Carlson and its Chief Technical Officer Subbu Ganesan. "Dan Reddy is a welcome addition to the Tharas Systems Board of Directors," says Carlson. "His business acumen and semiconductor technology expertise will be well utilized." "Tharas Systems has an outstanding opportunity to capitalize on the resurgence in the application-specific hardware market," adds Reddy. Reddy co-founded Alliance Semiconductor and has served as its chairman of the board, CEO and president from its inception in 1985. From 1983-1985, he served as president and CEO of Modular Semiconductor, Inc. From 1980-1983, he served as manager of Advanced CMOS Technology Development at Synertek, Inc., a subsidiary of Honeywell, Inc. Previously, Reddy held various research and development and management positions at Four Phase Systems, a subsidiary of Motorola, Inc., Fairchild Semiconductor and RCA Technology Center. Reddy also serves on the Board of Directors of United Semiconductor Corporation, a Taiwanese company that owns and operates an eight-inch wafer manufacturing facility using advanced process technologies, and FED Corporation, a privately-held flat panel display company in the formative stage. He also serves as Board Supervisor for United Silicon Inc., a Taiwanese Company formed to construct, own, and operate an eight-inch wafer manufacturing facility using Advanced Processing Technologies. In 1995, Alliance Semiconductor was named by Fortune magazine as the eighth fastest growing company in the United States.
