I work in the PCB (Printed Circuit Board) market and faster pcs, more inteligent software, and integration of equipment has increased capabilities and reduced lead times. The problem is that technology is also getting tougher, so it is a never ending battle to keep up.

I agree with the stats being flawed, but I don't think Y2K is the only source.

OK...to far out. I wonder if they lump all electronic assemblies with "computer hardware". The EMS (Electronic Manufacturing Service)industry has seen robust productivity increases during the last couple of years.

This is the industry I work in, so this I know to be true also.
