Appreciate your comments: <Broadcom Enters Optical Market With Low-Cost Chip......Broadcom's arrival in the fast-growing optical networking field should have a ``very material impact'' on the company, Chief Executive Henry Nicholas told Reuters in an interview.
``This is the most significant announcement we have made since the company went public,'' Nicholas said.>>

<For consumers, the development of low-cost, optical wide area networks should speed the delivery of so-called virtual private networks that would let users open windows on their televisions and access company computer networks securely from their living rooms.>

Dear Mr. Gilder,

As a subscriber to the GTR, I thank you for the insights and profitability you have created for your followers.

As the focus of your writings pertain to the telecosm, I'm curious if you have heard of and if so, your opinion on Cymer, (CYMI). While they are a semi equip provider, only 24% of their revenues are derived from PC,s. The same percentage (and growing) is derived from telecommunication chip manufacturing firms.

Cymer has a virtual monopoly on the light source for smaller line widths, starting at .25 micron and below. (.18, .13 etc.)

Semicom has stated that Optical Lithography SHOULD be here for a minimum of 7-10 years and that post Optical Lithography (E-beam, x-ray et al.) may never be needed.

Personally, I believe that to a degree, Cymer is the 'Genesis' of future technology.

I would greatly appreciate your opinion.

Sincerely,

Craig
