From Sharky's roadmap, looks like Itanium has slipped a quarter, doesn't it? He says "Early Introduction Itanium 733MHz; 2.1GBps FSB/4M; i870 chipset" for Q2'2000. I thought the first Itanium was supposed to be out this quarter.

And 800 MHz takes a whole nuther quarter, after which Itanium never goes higher than that. No server chips past 800 MHz until 2H'2001!

Looks to me like IA64 is dead until 2H'2001.

I hope Sharky has a desktop CPU roadmap update soon.

Re: "Foster to have 256K L2, 1M integrated L3. Hmm... Interesting, don't you think? I think Mustang's larger L2 should perform better than L1/L2/L3 of Foster"

You may find that those terms, L1/L2/L3 don't exactly mean what we are used to thinking.
