No grudges here.

I'm an indirect beneficiary of a Nokia holding and have substantial input into whether that holding is sold or traded. My advice is to stay long on Nokia. I think Nokia is a marketing phenomenon, absolutely brilliant in that field.

However, I cannot comprehend why Nokia refuses to purchase Q CDMA chipsets nor do I understand its drift towards DS CDMA. Neither posture makes sense to me. The reasons have been stated ad nauseum, and do not need to be repeated. In my view, Nokia is losing valuable time and incurring unrecoverable opportunity costs by adopting a posture that I think is based more on corporate arrogance than on market realities.

Tero,
Seems everyone on the thread except a few are as confused as DDI?

With only 10 days left to make a decision is it door number 1 or 2?

Great company right?

I don't care which way they go because their management team is showing the industry they don't have a clue on what to do.

If they did they would have decided on one or the other long ago.

Jim

tero, there will be many standards in wireless

.......as there are in the world of copper wire. however, as you eloquently stated-- (and i agree)--the next dominant force will be w-cdma throughout europe and much of asia.

america may maintain its mish-mash. if it does, motorola and qualcomm will end up like general motors.

i own a slug of nok and ericy--part of the reason is i want to go with the big winner.

i am not looking for winner take all. so what happens with a couple telecom companies in japan and korea does not decide the race.

look at the charts of nok/ericy vs. qcom. that says it all.
