This post will be tacked on to that of stantheman but it is really a response to George Gilder's response to stantheman.

George: You have done it again! You have defined and redefined the real arena of thought and of action and of invention and of creativity.

Yes indeed. The logic of creativity does require that one leap before he looks.

Yes indeed. We proceed from faith to belief to knowledge.

And yes indeed. Those whose minds are encased in the 19th century idols of scientific proof, inductive logic, and other trappings of the existing order will dismiss their intuition and their unwillingness to suspend disbelief and, in dismissing these vital and essential elements of discovery, will miss the future.

And yes indeed. In deigning to answer your critics, you have once again taught us why we believe so much in you and in your educated vision of the future.

Thanks, George, for sharing. Thanks for being humble enough to reach out to others with the truths that you have come to know and to experience after much rigorous thought and effort. And thanks for finding time in your busy and productive life to read these posts and put the matters straight.

"At a time when the global afflictions of poverty, famine and disease are about to succumb to a world-wide tsunami of new commerce and invention" Whoa there GG!- a little perspective is in order. The era of bandwidth abundance will be great, no question about it- but to suggest that the dramatic shifts and adjustments of the global economy will be a panacea for human suffering is fantasy. Lets not get carried away with this 'masslessness' vision thing.
