MB, exactly. the pressure applied by the EU has merely cemented the Freedom party's lead in the polls.
and while Haider has indeed said some things he shouldn't have said and painted himself into the extreme right wing corner, i still think it's more of a case of the establishment fearing his zeal for reform. the Freedom party certainly has its faults, but it's one of the more moderate right wing outfits in Europe. note i'm not a supporter of the Freedom party. but i don't see it as undemocratic and respect its right to govern if it gets elected.
