You know, I really like cement. Damn ~ it's handy. Except for the fact it sheds water that trees and plants may need, and water cleaning may need. The earth. ("Dirt.")

But I'm going to get into porous cement-y materials next.

Actual (as opposed to...) gravel drives are being allowed in town for new construction. About freaking time. But I bet it's a major mortgage qualification problem. [Those guys are inflexible, ignorant, literally antediluvian dickheads. (No offense to dick heads.)]

This field was just fledging, or pre-fledging, downy, when Paul left the design world for the medical and strait world. It was a downy field. Oooh. Sounds fun. Roll around in there.

But we have a place where we need pavimento under a huge Quercus garryana. It would survive no more encroachment. Eeek, mon. Eeeky-eeky. That is very scary. They grow so slowly. Benefactors. Lost "The Primo" last year.

Speaking of which, ("huge" that is), the largest Q. garryana ("Oregon white oak") in Oregon, and possibly le world, is about 1200 feet from here. (Sideways.) Over across the landscape, that way, towards your house. We could go look. It's fun. To see how big they get.

"This is the biggest one."

"Hmm."

"This one?"

"This one."

"Hmm."

"Hmm."

[I assume someone has run around and documented that. Jeez.]

This oak has, imho, incredible grain and wood-color; a color distinct from any other; when the awesome silhouette fails. Which happens more and more. ("Civilization.") Darnit. Sigh.

People split it for firewood, damnit. Tear it out.

Humans.

"Pull thy head out of thy ass," as Dash likes to advise.

Work wood - Don't burn it.

Hah! You are just jealous. I wonder what 1/3 acre of lawn and woodland would go for in Palo Alto?
