more MIGR & Intel news: May 2, 7:03 MIGR and Intel Corp. Collaborate to Optimize IA-64 Porting Process
\266 Migration Workbench(TM) Technology Automates Redeployment of Applications From 32-Bit Platforms to Upcoming 64-Bit Intel(R) Itanium(TM) Processor
SANTA CLARA, Calif., and DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 2, 2000-- Intel Corporation (Nasdaq:INTC - news) and MigraTEC, Inc. (OTCBB:MIGR - news), a provider of platform migration technology, announced today that the companies have agreed to collaborate to optimize the process of migrating applications from 32-bit platforms to the new 64-bit Intel© Itanium(TM) processor.

This follows a successful six-month proof-of-concept evaluation conducted by Intel's Software Performance Labs.

Intel and MigraTEC will continue their collaboration on an automated toolset designed to improve productivity in migrating applications to the Itanium(TM) processor architecture. Based on MigraTEC's Migration Workbench(TM) software, the toolset is targeted at accelerating market adoption of the Itanium(TM) processor platform. According to MigraTEC president and CEO Curtis Overstreet, the companies will help Independent Software Vendors and corporate enterprises more quickly embrace the benefits afforded by Intel's powerful new technology.

MigraTEC's Migration Workbench(TM) software automates the platform migration or upgrade of C and C++ application software. Migration Workbench(TM) software is now available to ISVs and corporate IT customers in Intel's Applications Solutions Centers worldwide.

``Intel-based servers with the Itanium(TM) processor represent a new level of world class platform that will be the foundation for driving the Internet economy,'' said Elliot Garbus, Director of the ISV Performance Labs. ``The MigraTEC toolset compliments Intel's efforts in enabling our customers to rapidly move their solutions to this powerful Internet Economy building block.''

``Intel's Itanium(TM) processor will open a new era in enterprise computing,'' said Overstreet. ``MigraTEC's tools will enable Intel and Intel's customers to optimize the process of migrating applications to the 64-bit architecture. This will help them leverage their IT investments by more quickly and efficiently migrating existing mission-critical applications to the new platform.''

Industry analysts at Aberdeen Group, Inc. (www.aberdeen.com) concluded in a recent executive white paper (``Inside Intel's Merced: A Strategic Planning Discussion'') that applications such as business intelligence, Internet commerce and online transaction processing may perform better by taking advantage of IA-64 parallel processing technology. Aberdeen's paper also stated that IA-64 will give information systems executives their first opportunity to standardize enterprise hardware platforms on one architecture for server environments.

``Migration Workbench(TM) technology can help companies optimize their e-commerce technical infrastructure,'' said MigraTEC's Overstreet. ``By consolidating applications on a single server architecture and operating system, companies can create a more manageable, efficient and reliable system.

``MigraTEC has been performing large-scale migration of applications for more than 5 years,'' Overstreet added. ``We have expertise few companies can match, with our technology having been used in approximately 400 successful migration projects, involving several different operating systems and platforms.''
