Sorry to say that Foreigner falls into that category of "groups I've never heard" - if they came out in the late 70's, I missed them entirely. I think the only bands from that era that I became aware of were Supertramp, Cheap Trick, and Queen.

Though I might have one of their albums - over the years I've had friends give me their vinyl collections when they realized that they were no longer going to listen to them, so it's possible I ended up with one (the best hand-me-downs were from my brother-in-law, a college student in the late 50's/early 60's whose taste in music ran to Thelonius Monk, Art Blakey, Gerry Mulligan, etc.).

I remember my first philly cheesesteak - at the Italian Market, Pat's maybe? - I thought it was pretty weak. I mean, Cheez Whiz?? I later found other Philly places that didn't use Cheez Whiz and then I understood what a great cheesesteak was.

do you recall their cover of "more, more, more of your love'? he did a pretty decent impersonation of smokey, imo. i was even fooled for a little while.

Until you mentioned that song, I had completely forgotten about it. They had a previous hit - "Bye, Bye Baby, Goodbye", or something similar - that made a bigger impression. Wasn't as good a song, just that it was kinda neat to hear radio play from a group who'd recently played at a dance for about 50 kids in my neighborhood.

And after listening to it again 30+ years later, it still sounds pretty good:
rondiamond.com (about 14 minutes into the show)

And it's nice to see he's still in the business:
newblood.com

edit: just went to rondiamond.com - an amazing treasure trove of great oldies music.
