I think shame should just stay right in there. Shame is a very good teacher IMO. I have been ashamed of many things and shame causes me to act differently on the next occasion.

I used an example of DWIs earlier. Shame can cause a big paradigm shift in a persons thinking if one would look forward to consequence, as some seem to never care what the law is before they drink and drive.

Seems our society wants no responsibility, consequence or shame.
