I am sorry that SI was so cruel, and grateful for your research. I am still not clear why the NCC sent for the grandmothers, or why Juan would have been at risk of detention. Also, the representation that Elian would be forthcoming had become moot by the time the grandmothers came, if I remember correctly, and it was clear there would be a fight. I know that I would have insisted on going to the United States once the Miami relatives had declared an intention to fight the INS. But I am still only questioning, not passing a definitive judgment....
