One reason given for the light volume is the rate picture... Some argue that investors hesitating to come back to techs/stocks as long as Fed remains bent on raising rates... While there is merit to this argument, Briefing.com maintains that rate picture could be about to brighten considerably... Should Fed decide to raise rates by 50 bp in May, many on street will claim that Fed's bold action marks the end of the tightening cycle, just as it did a few years back... And if street begins to believe that Fed policy will turn neutral, then sidelined money will come back to market in a big way - with techs, financials and retail among the biggest winners.
