RNWK--DJ Deutsche Telekom, RealNetworks Form Europe Web Channel 05/02/2000 Dow Jones News Services (Copyright ¸ 2000 Dow Jones & Company, Inc.) BONN (Dow Jones)--Deutsche Telekom AG (DT) said Tuesday it's deepening its partnership with Seattle-based RealNetworks Inc. (RNWK) to deliver more real-time, on-line content. The two are forming their own broadcast network, to be called Telekom Broadcast Network. It will run along the lines of Real Broadcast Network in the U.S., offering real-time radio and television programs via the Internet. Deutsche Telekom will build up and handle the European network's infrastructure. Content for the European on-line network will come from Deutsche Welle's N24 television station or radio programming and will start in the summer. Some of the expected programming includes Bundesliga soccer, Protestant radio, live press conferences from DaimlerChrysler and debates in the German legislature. Future cooperation between Deutsche Telekom and RealNetworks will likely involve streaming media communication via satellite and broadband cable, with RealNetworks' technology becoming interactive video services. -0- 02/05/00 15-12G (END) DOW JONES NEWS 05-02-00
