GST i'm anxiously awaiting WH's answer to this question :)

however, i am figuring that it may be wise to play one mania stock to offset my overweight position in the yellow metal...(you know which metal i refer to <G>). i figure the biotech sector may be better than the internet sector at this point, and mike burke suggested a few biotechs and related issues, i.e. cra, drmd, vaso, lgnd and mogn.

if the market craps out and cra goes to 0 and the yellow metal does a double, i'd still be way ahead...

don't worry, i won't go to the dark side on you <G>

p.s. got gold :))) i hope hj hung on to the placer d he mentioned he bought a while back !

There's more to stock investing that reported or near-term estimated profits, GST. There's the value of intellectual property in the the case of Celera. They sequenced the human genome in seven months. No bad considering the government-sponsored effort has taken years and they're not finished.

What does gold do for you? It doesn't turn a profit. Gold is a burden. Gold is great if you expect the US financial system to collapse (bullets may actually be more valuable than gold in that event). I just don't share your distressful imaginings! Times have never been better for the United States. We're more secure now than ever, and the US Dollar is the world's reserve currency, not gold. We have conservative fiscal policy and we're paying down the national debt. We are living in Pax Americana. The Romans didn't have it this good at the height of empire.

Maybe you should move off that volcano you live on. It's making you paranoid! :)
