On the Toronto Stock Exchange today: Record volume, two times the size of previous record volume day. The TSE closed at 9510.28, off 16.88 or a loss of .18%.

This information was reported on CBC radio without any comment--just the facts.

Guess they can't spell "distribution." (Maybe it's supposed to be spelled, "distributioun." Yeah, that looks more Canadian.)

Ciao,
David Todtman

Musings..Beige Book out today, with Productivity Thurs. & Employment data Friday...

Greenman to speak this afternoon (after Beige Book release). Rubber chicken FED circuit may go in to hyperdrive...if they want to forewarn the market of a half point hike on May 16th???

Mary-the-not-so-meek (Meeker) added some fuel to the NAZ falloff yesterday by making a statement that the pieces may not be greater than the whole (i.e., if Microsoft is broken up)

Greenspan mum on inflation, upbeat on economy-Japan

WASHINGTON, May 3 (Reuters) - Federal Reserve Board Chairman Alan Greenspan said there was much data and debate on U.S. inflation and that nothing decisive could be said, a Japanese Economic Planning Agency official said on Wednesday.

Greenspan also said that the U.S. economy was healthy and in a positive cycle, the official told reporters after a meeting between Greenspan and Japanese Economic Planning Agency Minister Taichi Sakaiya in Washington.

"At their meeting, Chairman Greenspan said that he realized there were various arguments with regard to U.S. inflation and a lot of data, and that he could not say anything decisive," the official said.

"He also said that the U.S. economy is solid and continues to be in a positive cycle," the official added.

Geez, hard to imagine that the Greenman can't say anything decisive <g>!!
