Have you ever heard of the tar sands? Just one of the reasons why Finning moved its head office out of B.C. over to Alberta. Large mining projects located in Alberta require lots of big iron. There is over $20 billion in new open pit mine development on the books in Alberta. How many new mines are being developed in B.C.?

There are also many mining engineering firms located here. Many of the Alberta based mining engineers often find themselves consulting on large open pit mines elsewhere in the world like the copper mines in Chile or the coal mines in Indonesia, for example.
