1. You can buy Compactflash memory from Kingston or Simple. Are they licensing from Sandisk or others? Message 13387110 2. How is SNDK's market share? A quick look at the article link suggests that among the top 60% share in digital camera, only Kodak uses Compactflash. Olympus uses SmartMedia and Sony uses it's own memory stick. But SanDisk does seem to receive the widest support among all camera makers. I am not sure of CompactFlash's market share compared to SmartMedia or Memory Stick or other competing technologies. Kodak, Nikon, Canon and Epson are a few of the digital camera manufacturers that use CompactFlash exclusively. Olympus also has a digital SLR camera that uses CompactFlash. Recall also that SanDisk has its own brand of SmartMedia and that the SanDisk/Toshiba JV will produce NAND wafers in large quantities for products like SmartMedia, among other uses. In general, SmartMedia is being used with less and less frequency and has disadvantages that I outlined in my prior post to you.3.How close is DRAM price affect its business? I think the cost will be an important factor for the future of solid state storage. At the current price ($60 for 32M), it is still a little on the expensive side to be stocked in large quantity for consumer. Most likely, it will be used heavily with PC to refresh content. I don't see DRAM and Flash RAM as being direct competitors because of the properties of each. The key here is volatile vs. non-volatile. This is the fundamental difference between the two technologies. If you are still worried about DRAM you should not invest in SanDisk. Danny, I would like to request that you take an evening or two and review this Thread for further information. I am sure most questions you have, whether basic or complex, have been already answered in some detail here. Good Luck to You. Ausdauer
