I am told that running at 1.1-1.3V with power management it is quite good.

Maybe AMD just does not have enough resources to support 3 different laptop chips. If you have a dedicated laptop chip on the drawing board (Corvette) that is less than 6 months from introduction, why would you enter the laptop market with Spitfire in June, only to discontinue it 3 months later? I don't think AMD is selling enough chips to make worthwhile.
