Mani,

I am the last one who should be advising people on the use of the English language, since it is my second language (and I wasn't a star in my first language either), but:

AMD has limited resources and does not have a 20/20 hind sight.

I think AMD does have 20/20 hindsight. It would be nice if AMD had a 20/20 foresight or crystal ball.

Mani,

I suppose one could also criticize Michael Jordan for missing a jump shot or Babe Ruth for striking out, but the only way to truly evaluate their performance to judge them against their fellow players. Base on that AMD has been exemplary.

Very good analogy. AMD is blowing away the expectations of just about everyone in the financial and engineering communities, and we are all getting wealthy from it. Let's count our blessings!

<Is AMD doing a marvelous job considering the circumstance? ABSOULUTELY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!>

I disagree.

<What benchmark are you using in saying AMD is screwing things up? AMD has limited resources and does not have a 20/20 hind sight.>

It is about lost opportunities and nothing to do with hind site. I have said pretty much all I have to say.

<For crying out load Charles, you seem to completely ignore how little money and resources AMD has to spend on infrastructure. >

I completely understand AMD's limited resources. I just think those are being wasted with poor planning.

<Unless one compares AMD to a similar company with similar sets of problems any criticism is baseless. >

Such a comparison WILL never be possible. It is better to benchmark against what is possible instead of what someone else is upto.

<I suppose one could also criticize Michael Jordan for missing a jump shot or Babe Ruth for striking out, but the only way to truly evaluate their performance to judge them against their fellow players. Base on that AMD has been exemplary.>

I am not a fan of sports analogies because there tend to be so many holes it isn't even funny.

P.S.: I am looking for an exit out of this discussion which is going no where.
