Eicon Adds Linux Support to its WAN Cards

Eicon Technology, a leading worldwide provider of Internet access
products, today announced the forthcoming release of its EiconCard
Connections for Linux software. This complete WAN communications
software program for use with Eicon's family of WAN cards provides
total wide area network (WAN) connectivity for a wide range of
Linux-based applications, such as Web Servers, Thin Server
Appliances or the new generation of Linux-based embedded systems.
The first version supports Red Hat Linux.

EiconCard Connections for Linux, combined with an EiconCard,
provides the wide area communications needs for an easy-to-use,
low-cost, and easy-to-manage communications server. The
flexibility of the EiconCard, when combined with this software,
provides powerful IP Routing over various WAN protocols, making it
ideal for applications such as Web Servers or Thin Server
Appliances. In addition, many Linux-based embedded systems, such
as point-of-sales, can use the X.25 connectivity built into the
EiconCard Connections for Linux.

"WAN connectivity is a natural need for users of Linux," said Ken
Gingrich, Senior Vice President, Worldwide Sales & Marketing
Operations for Eicon. "One potential application is for users of
Linux-powered thin servers to use EiconCards to connect corporate
Web Servers to the Internet or Intranet."

EiconCard Connections for Linux also includes Eicon's well-known
Development Tools. Developers can create customized applications
for Linux-based embedded systems (such as point-of-sale or
ATM/banking applications).

EiconCards are Wide Area Networking interface adapters for
PC-based connectivity. They provide X.25, Frame Relay, PPP and
SDLC communications, on both serial and ISDN ports. C-class
EiconCards are low-speed intelligent WAN interface cards,
primarily used for X.25 and SDLC gateways, where line speeds
typically do not exceed 64 kbps. S-class EiconCards are
high-speed intelligent WAN interface cards, mainly used with
branch office LAN application servers and intended for Frame Relay

Eicon Technology Introduces its First ADSL Solution

MAY 8, 2000
LAS VEGAS, NEVADA--

NETWORLD + INTEROP (Booth #6329)

Easy-to-Use ADSL Modem Makes Installation Easy, Reducing Support
Calls

Eicon Technology, a leading worldwide provider of Internet access
products, today announced the introduction of the DIVA 2430
Ethernet + USB ADSL Modem. DIVA 2430 is ideal for Internet
surfing and for connecting telecommuters and home office users to
corporate networks over high-speed ADSL lines.

"We've listened to our customers and tapped the growing market
demand for an ADSL modem that can be installed, managed and
configured by non-technical users," said Ken Gingrich, Eicon's
Senior Vice President, Worldwide Sales & Marketing Operations.
"Nothing on the market today has the functionality, ease-of-use
and versatility of the DIVA 2430."

Designed to simplify high-speed connections, the DIVA 2430 takes
the guesswork out of ADSL technology, eliminating the need for
phone companies or ISPs to send technicians to install and support
ADSL modems. The result is increased productivity and low support
costs, which translate into profits for all concerned.

The DIVA 2430 is Eicon's first ADSL product in a family that will
include routers, VPN solutions and other DSL technologies.

"Eicon is aggressively pursuing new technologies that are changing
the Telecom industry," said Maks Wulkan, Executive Vice-President
of Eicon Technology. "We are leveraging our expertise and
strategic alliances to ride the wave of emerging DSL and other
technology platforms."

Ease-of-Use

The DIVA 2430 is easy to install and comes with a user-friendly
set-up wizard. Additional ease-of-use features include the DIVA
Assistant that diagnoses and troubleshoots problems, a resident
Web site and automatic IP address configuration.

The DIVA 2430 is equipped with one Ethernet 10BaseT port and one
USB port for quick installation into various scenarios. Recent
PCs with a USB plug can immediately be connected using the
plug-play functionality. All the computers can be connected using
the Ethernet link. Users with more than one computer can easily
use them at the same time to browse the Internet and exchange data
locally.

Technical Specifications

Eicon's DIVA 2430 is both G.lite and full-rate ADSL compliant, as
well as operating-system independent. The DIVA 2430 comes
equipped with an ADSL, an Ethernet and a USB cable. The DIVA 2430
is upgradeable via free Web downloads, ensuring that users can
keep pace with the latest technology. The DIVA 2430 is compatible
with all leading DSLAMs that adhere to the industry standards
G.992.1, G.992.2 and T1.413 Issue 2 and supports the PPPoE
protocol. The DIVA 2430 also transparently supports Virtual
Private Network (VPN) technology on Microsoft(R) Windows(R)
platforms, eliminating long-distance WAN charges.

Eicon Announces DEC & UNIX Host Support in its Aviva for
Desktops 8.20

MAY 8, 2000
LAS VEGAS, NEVADA--

NETWORLD + INTEROP (Booth #6329)

Support for Integrated Multi-host Access, Printing and Windows
2000 Round Out Eicon's Full-function Desktop Connectivity Solution

Eicon Technology, a global leader in remote access solutions,
today released Aviva(R) for Desktops(TM) 8.20, the latest version
of its widely acclaimed full-function host access solution.

Through its support for multiple host types, Aviva for Desktops
8.20 enables corporations with heterogeneous host environments to
provide one integrated solution through which to access host-based
business logic and data. Supporting IBM mainframe, midrange and
now DEC and UNIX hosts, Aviva for Desktops 8.20 provides the most
comprehensive solution upon which enterprises can standardize
their multi-host access requirements.

"Corporate growth, increasingly as a result of mergers and
acquisitions, is creating new challenges for extending access to
mission critical data and business logic now stored on a mix of
host systems," stated Jean-Fran‡ois Levesque, Director of Eicon's
Host Access Business Unit. "Because Aviva for Desktops shares one
common code and API set, corporations, their users and systems
integrators are provided with common user and programming
interfaces across all platforms. This greatly reduces learning
curves, increases the comfort and ease of obtaining essential
data, and improves productivity and user satisfaction levels.
Aviva for Desktops' customers have peace of mind as they grow
their infrastructures and migrate to newer IP networks."

"With Aviva for Desktops, we have the comfort of knowing that we
can access different host types for various management-related
applications for the College. Aviva for Desktops' common user
interface and fully integrated functionality streamlines the
ability to access mission-critical data, regardless of the host,"
commented Benoit Desjardins, Systems Analyst at the Montreal-based
College, CEGEP du Vieux Montreal. "I was thoroughly impressed by
the simplicity of Aviva's interface as well as its powerful and
flexible management features. All-in-all, Aviva for Desktops is
an excellent platform for developing and accessing the
applications we rely on."

Other new features include support for Microsoft(R) Windows(R)
2000 Client and Server operating systems, support for DEC, Linux
and UNIX display emulation through the standard Telnet connection
type, and full support for the latest TN3270E and TN5250E
enhancements being implemented by IBM and Cisco.

Aviva for Desktops 8.20 integrates with the Aviva family of host
access products to provide the first step toward transitioning
from SNA to IP networks, paving the way for e-business, e-commerce
