Zak,

In a similar vein, a song I haven't been able to get out of my head recently is Lou Bega's "Mambo Number 5".

I'll tell you how popular Latin music is right now. I just returned from cruise #12, 10 of which either originated in or included the Caribbean and not only did I hear many Latin numbers but I never did hear "Hot, Hot, Hot" or "Yellow Bird", both Steel Drum Stapples and both usually played so many times around the pool that even Yoko would sound good for a change of pace! (probably an exaggeration).

Even the "Las Vegas" type onboard entertainment had a Latin bias this trip. The one show called "Fiesta Caliente" blended dance with a tribute to today's Latin stars, Gloria E., Selena, Jennifer Lopez (w/o Puff Daddy), Marc Anthony, and of course, Ricky Martin. And the waiters did a song & dance routine at dinner one night to "Living La Vita Loco" and Mumbo #5!

But you are quite right - once you get Mumbo on the brain, it's hard to forget it. "A little bit of Monica in my life, a little bit of Jennifer by my side!" ;)

As far as who did "Hot, Hot, Hot", I have no idea but I have to admit that your choice is quite possible or maybe it was that group that Monty Rock III sang with - that's going to drive me crazy till I figure it out!

And would you believe, we missed both sessions of "Name That Tune" this trip - that's usually good for a free T-Shirt or hat. :)
